Hotel prices in Málaga and when to book cheaper
Málaga is the seaside capital of the Costa del Sol and the birthplace of Picasso, with beaches and more than three hundred days of sunshine a year. Accommodation prices depend heavily on the season here, because the rhythm is set by beach holidays and festivities. This list shows 6 297 properties: from hostel beds to apartments by the beach and five-star hotels. Below we have gathered concrete figures to help you plan a budget and pick a good time to come.
When to book at the lowest price
Málaga is cheapest in January, and also in November, when the beach season winds down. It is most expensive in April, around Holy Week and the Semana Santa processions, when rates can rise by more than a third. Within the week the lowest prices fall on Sunday and Monday, the highest on Thursday. Booking about three months before arrival usually gives the best prices, since close to the date, especially in summer, cheap availability disappears fast.
Price by property type
| Property type | Price per night (from approx.) |
| Hostel bed | from approx. € 30 |

Price by neighbourhood
Location affects the price as much as the standard. The cheapest area is Cruz de Humilladero, where stays can be up to half the price of the seaside centre. The priciest is the Downtown area near the port and the beach, while the most booked is the historic Centro around the cathedral and Calle Marqués de Larios. Other popular areas, such as Churriana or the seafront districts, fall pricewise between these ends.
| Neighbourhood | Average price per night (approx.) |
| Cruz de Humilladero (cheapest) | approx. € 55 |
| Downtown by the port (priciest) | approx. € 170 |

- With breakfast. Properties with a good breakfast included sit in the centre and around the Larios promenade, often in the mid price range.

When Málaga gets more expensive
Málaga has a Mediterranean climate with warm summers and mild winters. The most pleasant time to explore is spring, from March to May, and autumn, from September to November, when it is warm and the crowds are thinner. Summer, from June to August, is the peak of the beach season, with the highest occupancy and prices. Rates are also pushed up by big events, above all the Semana Santa in April and the Feria de Agosto in August.
